Bareboat Chartering (104) is an advanced class that will prepare the student to charter his or her own boat anywhere in the world. Most charter companies require documented completion of ASA 101, 103, and 104 before they will rent a yacht to an individual. During the Bareboat Chartering (104) class, students learn navigation, chart reading, planning and preparation for an extended trip, provisioning, additional rules of the road, and emergency preparedness. Students will plot a course and sail to their destination with a combination of paper charts and electronic instrumentation. After completion of the Bareboat Chartering (104) class, individuals will hold the required certification to sail in any near coastal and island locations around the world. The ASA 104 class is a great confidence builder and is geared to turn the student into a bareboat sailor.
